What is Carry Forward Leave?
Carry Forward Leave is a system that allows employees to:
- Transfer unused vacation or personal leave days from one year to the next
- Retain earned time off that wasn't used during the previous year
- Apply these carried-forward days along with current year's allocation
- Maintain visibility of both current and carried-forward leave balances

Understanding Your Leave Balance
Balance Components
Your total leave balance consists of:
- Current Year Allocation: New leave days assigned for the current year
- Carried Forward Balance: Unused days from the previous year
- Available Balance: Total days you can use (Current + Carried Forward - Used)
Balance Display
The system displays:
- Total Available: Combined current and carried forward days
- Used This Year: Days already taken in the current year
- Remaining: Days still available for use
- Carried Forward: Specifically shows previous year's unused days
How to Apply for Leave Using Carry Forward
Step 1: Access the Leave Application Form
- Navigate to the Leave Management section
- Click on "Apply for Leave"
- The application form will display your current balance information
Step 2: Review Your Balance
Before applying, check:
- Your total available balance
- How many days are from carry forward
- Your current year's remaining allocation
Step 3: Complete the Leave Application
- Select Leave Type: Choose the appropriate leave category
- Choose Dates: Select your desired leave dates
- Enter Duration: The system will calculate days automatically
- Add Reason: Provide a brief explanation for your leave request
Step 4: Balance Allocation
The system automatically:
- Uses carried forward days first (when applicable)
- Then applies current year's allocation
- Shows the breakdown in your application summary
Step 5: Submit Application
- Review all details in the summary
- Confirm the balance usage breakdown
- Click "Submit" to send for approval
- You'll receive a confirmation with reference number
